IOS7 Nav Bar: How to do "Translucent light" and "tint color" in Corona to achieve guidelines?

How would one make use of Corona graphics capabilities to create an IOS 7 nav bar based on their design guidelines?  

Key aspects are the (a) “translucent light” and (b) tinting…that is:

* Bar style - Translucent light (default) or translucent dark.

* Tinting - Use tintColor to tint bar button items.  Use barTintColor to tint the bar background.
