iPad simulator zoom to full size

Because my monitor is 1440x900 the Simulator for ipad opens with the screen shown at 50% size (384x512). It would be capable of showing at 100% except that the simulator includes the iPad frame graphic which is a thick border which makes for a simulator window size of 500*638.

When trying to check alignment of graphics this is difficult (my poor old eyes get strained).

Is there a way to run the simulator without the frame thus allowing me to zoom in to the ‘real’ part of the simulator? Should I edit the frame graphic to crop it?

At present we don’t have a skinless/custom skin option although we know it is a requested feature.

You could still zoom in but yes, doing it each time is a little irritating, I know. [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 22559 reply_id: 90123[/import]

Can’t zoom in. Stuck with 50% because of my screen size.
So I’ve edited the ipad.png file in resources. By making it small I can now zoom in fully when simulator is rotated right (fine for my projects). Only problem is some of my screen view is cropped.
I cropped ipad.png to 816x1124 and can see 699x999 of my 768x1024 project.

If only I could find the file within Simulator that does the offset for iPad, I’d just need to change the x,y offset.

See http://www.apptoonz.com/stuff/coronasimulatorscreen.jpg to see the effect.

Of course, if there was an option in Simulator to ‘create’ a custom simulation size… [import]uid: 120570 topic_id: 22559 reply_id: 90137[/import]

I wow, I wasn’t aware of that limitation; apologies.

I will try to bump the custom skin request. [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 22559 reply_id: 90147[/import]

I have a similar / the same problem when working with the android simulator in portrait orientation. The view is scaled to 50% so that the 480x800 screen becomes 240x400 and then the skin adds another 247 pixels. This means that you can’t then zoom in to 100% (on a 1920x1080 display) which makes it difficult to check and align graphics elements.

Having the option to display the simulator in skinless mode would solve this problem. As far as I can see the skin is only really useful when taking screenshots - for development it is not required and especially so when it stops you seeing the app at full size! +1 to this feature request please. [import]uid: 87911 topic_id: 22559 reply_id: 93068[/import]

We have another thread on this right now, in Feature Requests - Carlos commented on it this week.
