Is Corona SDK going to support iAd ?

Is Corona SDK going to support iAd ?

I think this is very important, because there should be a good way to make money with Free Apps/Games, iAd is a good way.

Pl;ease add iAd in road map. [import]uid: 83418 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 316234[/import]

I think one issue with iAd is that it’s only available in a limited number of countries.

iAd advertisements are currently being served to apps on the U.S., U.K., Germany, Italy, Spain, France, and Japan App Stores.

I’m a little surprised that Apple hasn’t been able to spread this further. [import]uid: 67839 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 60455[/import]

but there are more iphones in these countries than in rest of the world

Corona should support iAd
admob too

We really need iAD support in Corona. iAD payouts and fill rates are much higher than the others. [import]uid: 19297 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 60685[/import]

I agree, iAd is very important, especially if you plan on releasing lite, or free versions of apps. [import]uid: 9973 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 60998[/import]

+1 [import]uid: 4795 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 61449[/import]

Yep. I agree, and I also wish that there would be clearer communication about this issue from Anscamobile, although this might not be up to Anscamobile themselves.

I think the most meaningful post on the topic from Carlos was a cryptic “One word: lawyers” or something along this vein. The precise meaning of this is a bit vague, naturally, but an obvious reason not to communicate is that they are in negotiations and have signed non-disclosure agreement, in which case we won’t hear anything about iAds until they are definitely in or not in Corona.

However, this being said, I do wish that we would get a straight comment from Carlos or Walter about the current state of affairs, and implications on the future. With this I mean that it would be nice to get some feedback on all the complaints about the InMobi fill rates, for example. Somehow the implementation of ads in Corona feels severely lacking, and definitely not up to par with what Cocos 2D allows (as a framework on top of Xcode, simply put, it gives you all the power and options of iAds, bar none).

So, Ansca, how about some news?

p.s. I’m sorry if I’m being a bit of a nuissance, speculating about NDAs etc… It just really sucks to wonder how much more your app would be making with iAds. [import]uid: 70134 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 61458[/import]

@thomas6 … its fine :slight_smile: +1

I just know Carlos is quiet busy in this Days and Walther as usual.
AND there are hundreds of Users with thousand of other requests, wishes and Idea.

Also we can support each other and with my +1 I support your request for more informations
about “Whats going on with Ads in the near future”.

As more people request, as more it comes priority

Cheers
Chris

iAd support would be great! [import]uid: 38000 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 66815[/import]

Has there been an official position broadcast from Ansca regarding Corona supporting iAd???

+1 [import]uid: 74844 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 68780[/import]

+1 because we obviously need it, but if they’ve put off Game Center this long I’d expect iAd around the same time as iOS 6 or 7 :stuck_out_tongue:

When I spoke to Walter, he made it pretty clear to me that Ansca dislikes supporting iOS specific features, and prefers to do things that benefit both platforms.

What it comes down to is this:

Ansca is willing to put iOS developers at a disadvantage if it will benefit Android developers in some way or another (in the name of supporting both platforms).

In my mind, the only reason in-app purchases got done for iOS is because there’s no way to “attempt” to do it for both iOS and Android with one solution. Otherwise we’d be stuck with some crappy third-party service for in-app purchases as we are with ads (inMobi), or turn-based gameplay (pub nub) :stuck_out_tongue:
[import]uid: 36054 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 68793[/import]

It’s not that were attempting to put anyone at a disadvantage.

It’s just other features & fixes are currently at a higher priority. [import]uid: 84637 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 68800[/import]

+1 again.

I am sure a lot of us would love to see more monetization features like iAD. Without this kind of feature, we are losing out a significant source of revenue. Services like Mobclix (just an example) could be a better bet for Ansca which will support many providers with just one integration. Frankly InMobi is not where the money is at this time. Super Rewards is even worse.

I am sure there are many items of high priority. In my opinion, monetization should be one of them and way up high in the rank. [import]uid: 19297 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 68805[/import]

Danny,

The problem is that Ansca is not lining up priorities with the developer’s best interests in mind as much as it used to.

Some examples:

  1. Papaya put ahead of Game Center because of the “partnership” being put together. No one wanted Papaya and there are only like 1-2 forum posts even mentioning it. This was for “PR” and the hope of additional revenue (for Ansca) due to developers integrating it into their games and bringing in more users to the Papaya service.

  2. Developers wanted AdMob (iAd too, but it’s more important now that the service has matured), but got the crappy InMobi service instead (same reasons as Papaya). This isn’t as bad though since we can get around this with Web Popups.

In fairness, you guys have done awesome stuff like storyboard, kindle fire, nook, mac store, etc. just recently. But you need to get better at listening to developers. You guys are batting like 50-60% instead of 100%.

I think you guys need to go ahead and do feature voting now so that we’re better represented. Perhaps PRO Devs get 2 votes, Indie 1.

Danny,
Ansca is not attempting to put us at a disadvantage, but the fact is that we are at a disadvantage. are we not? i understand that other features have higher priorities. the question is why not this one? because it’s platform specific? there are other solutions that support iAd and Admob (Mobclix is one)

the 27M+ downloads of Ansca’s home page would be hundreds of millions, if iAd and Admob were integrated into Corona

ask non Corona developers, we’ll give you openGL, AL, a game engine etc, but not iAd and Admob, would you give Corona a try? how many would they answer yes?

I’m just commenting here to show my MASSIVE wish for iAds support. Come on Corona, you can’t keep on ignoring these pleas. [import]uid: 70134 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 68890[/import]

I just wanted to post in case anyone here was not aware of this thread;

http://developer.anscamobile.com/forum/2011/11/27/inneractive-new-ad-network

Although not iAds, the fill rate is better and they support both iOS and Android.

Also, I believe Paypal is one of their payment options which in my experience a lot of people prefer. (I’d have Apple pay me this way if it were an option.)

Peach  [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 71847[/import]

Hi Peach,
I try Inneractive but can not find payment option area? Is that support payment account and how to config payment method?
Thanks! [import]uid: 74428 topic_id: 16234 reply_id: 72386[/import]
