Is subscribing required to release the app?

For example, if I wanted to release my application on Google Play, Cydia, or a “marketplace” that isn’t official apple or android, do I still have to pay?

Also, would I still have to pay the yearly fee for releasing my apps for free?

I’m fairly new to app development, and I probably won’t be able to subscribe until I get more serious about it. [import]uid: 188108 topic_id: 32174 reply_id: 332174[/import]

Yes you have to pay. While you can build to test on device without licensing, there is a screen that comes up to notify anyone using it that you are using unlicensed software.

Even for free apps, you have to pay to remove that screen.

Corona SDK is developed by people where this is their full time job. This isn’t some open source project worked on by people in their spare time for fun. I know $200 for an indie bundle seems like a lot, but if you think about it like this… Its $17 a month. You probably spend more than that to go to a movie. Corona SDK’s license is the most fair in the industry since they don’t make you pay until you’re ready to release. If it takes you 6 months to ready your app, get to use it for free for those 6 months.

Can i add another question to this issue: Is it required to subscribe every year if i have released a game in an app store ? Or must i have the subscription only for the release ?
(Related to Andorid releases) [import]uid: 191613 topic_id: 32174 reply_id: 129343[/import]

Hey Cetin,

The answer to that is *NO* - for iOS, Android, etc. - you need a subscription to publish and to update but not to keep the app in the store.
