Is there still interest in a Windows version of the Simulator?

Good morning!

A few months ago, I worked on a Windows version of the iPhone simulator and already launched a pre-alpha version of it. It is “principally” working, but needs to be updated for the current state of the Corona SDK.

Due to other business projects (and Apple’s policy change in April this year), I stopped working on the simulator since then - but now (that Apple has changed back its App Store policy) it might be interesting to resurrect this project.

In April/May, I used BlitzMAX as a basis for the simulator - which turned out to be too buggy (in particular, multi-threading wasn’t working properly). Later, I switched to Flash for the display and built a Lua-capable “projector” around the SWF. Principally, this approach might (in a later step) even allow for completely Flash-based simulation of Corona applications (which *should* include Game-specific issues)

However, because of the effort I would have to put into the simulator, I would like to investigate public demand first, i.e. I would like to know:
IS THERE STILL INTEREST IN A WINDOWS-BASED SIMULATOR for Corona applications?
Provided that there still is *enough* interest, I would consider resurrecting my project.

An important note: as a self-employed person, I have to justify carefully, which projects to perform in order to earn my living. As a consequence, after an initial alpha/beta testing phase, I would plan to sell the simulator for a small fee!
Kind regards,

I would definitely be interested if you came up with a solution that allowed Corona apps to be played as flash games in Facebook for example. [import]uid: 9064 topic_id: 2522 reply_id: 7290[/import]

Ideally I would like a Windows version of Corona so I can code and test my games on my PC laptop. I have a Mac Mini for final publishing so don’t want to fork out for a Mac laptop too so I can code when out of the office. I would be happy just to be able to code and simulate on the PC but do the final packaging on a Mac.

Related to this need, I was doing some research this morning and found a program called “Love” that allows me to code lua games and test them on the PC. This obviously isn’t exactly Corona but it is handy for working on complex maths and physics elements of games on my PC when not in my office to use my Mac.

Anyway in answer to your question, I think it would be of interest though guess you need to see if there is a PC version of Corona on the road map.

To be a little bit more precise:

the Windows simulator would not be able to BUILD Corona apps, just to test them - for the final deployment you will still need the Corona SDK.

Thus, my simulator is just an “add-on” for Corona.
