Is this legitimate?!

I have been searching on elance.com for someone to make an app for me a few days ago, so I met a guy and told him to work on it from now because I have to refill my credit card, so when I pay him; I can have what I asked for. He then, after a few days sent me this ‘demo video’:

but this is suspicious to me… that doesn’t look like the Corona Simulator to me… and you also notice that it’s using the iOS 6 UI, even though, it looks very suspicious too… it just doesn’t sound right, also the map view with the arrow and the lines and stuff… that doesn’t sound like Corona at all… I’m full of doubts, any thoughts?

Maybe I’m alone, but if you’re dealing with someone you think is suspicious and they ask you DL some video to see their work, that is shady enough. They could have just as easily made a private youtube/vimeo link.

I didn’t download the video for the reasons I stated above. Can you post it on youtube or make a GIF out of it so it’s easier to view? Again, maybe I’m alone, but I’d prefer it.

Sure, youtube video added

I don’t think it’s the Corona sim, but it’s possible that they’ve built onto a device and are mirroring using AirPlay or something to record it.

Hard to say if it was made using Corona or not, if the dev has an Enterprise licence then they would be able to add features using both Lua and ObjC.

It does look like xMirage or some other mirroring software, as the status bar shows the bluetooth icon, which doesn’t usually show up in the Corona Simulator.

Can you ask him which Corona APIs they are using? Maybe a sample .lua file to inspect?

The map view looks odd to me. Corona doesn’t allow overlays on native elements, and the map view shows buttons as overlays. Also, does Corona’s mapview allow satellite/hybrid switching and a 3D effect? I don’t think so, but you can check the API for yourself.
