Issues with FB login - sometimes opens "regular" facebook app instead

Hie!

iOS Version : 6.1.3

Corona Version:  1173 - 1195

Facebook operations:  Login

Needed permissions:  “email” , “user_birthday” , “user_location” , “publish_stream”

We have an app running of iOS and Android and most of the time it runs without any issues.

from time to time we have users trying to log in using facebook and the “regular” facebook app opens up instead of the login screen. it goes directly to the user’s newfeed as if he simply opened FB.

When I run our app again, I see that the app behaves like it got the user’s login token and it tries to get the user’s data but it’s just stuck.

I’ve checked it through xCode console and there aren’t any errors or messages regarding this.

I would assume it can be related to FB custom scheme that is not there or not working properly.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Shahar

Hi Shahar,

Please check out the recent blog post on Facebook authentication (if you missed it). This should answer some of your questions or confirm what you’re assuming about the basic behavior.

Hie Brent.

I haven’t missed it and I’ve followed it (as far as I can see) to the letter.

As I said - facebook works most of the times, around 85-90% of the times. at about 10-15% of the times (on the same device) the facebook app opens as if I just opened it instead of going to the confirmation screen (or simply going back to my app).

I couldn’t find any logic to it. I’m using the same exact flow (fb login) and then one time it would just open the app.

Anyone encountered this?

Shahar

If others have seen this please chime in.  It sounds like a communications problem with Facebook not getting a connection to the server though I’ve never encountered it.

I have seen it but it’s hard to track.   The news feed opens up and just “stops” there.   No authentication, no return to the app you called facebook.login() from…

Same here.   I thought I recently got Facebook posting working, but as you said, it works most of the time, but not always.   I’m hoping to release to iTunes tomorrow, but I fear they may reject it if FB fails on them.
