Java SE issue for Corona

A few months back Corona team mentioned Java SE version 8 wont run with Corona. Is this still a problem and what is the latest version compatible?

We’ve done work to deprecate the need for Java 6, I know Java 7 is fine, but I’m unsure about Java 8.
