Jdk 7 support

Hi,

Any updates on switching from Java 6 to 7? As I understand it u41 will be the last update of Java 6. And given recent Java news, it’s not a comforting thought of keeping an unpatched Java instance on your computer.

At minimum I think Corona should provide some guidance on securing the JDK. I’m really not an expert on this, i.e. I have no idea if the JDK is available to browsers by default or possess same security vulnerabilities as the JRE. Or if the JDK also installed an JRE of the same unpatched version.

In any case you are my only reason for having Java, be responsible

JDK 6 is an Android requirement imposed by Google as documented under their “System Requirements” here…
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

This is because the Android OS and its apps are built with the 32-bit version of the JDK 6.

On Windows, both the JDK 6 and JDK 7 can coexist on the same machine, which makes sense because Java based apps target a specific Java version (ie: 6 or 7) and removing the Java 6 would break all Java 6 based apps. This is really only an issue on OS x, which in my opinion, handles this wrong. [import]uid: 32256 topic_id: 36294 reply_id: 144183[/import]
