Hey Folks,
I’m a high school math teacher and hobbyist programmer. I recently received my Masters in Computer Science and my masters’ thesis was called, “Improving Math Fluency through Drill Software for Clicker Systems.” I developed some software for my PRS Interwrite clicker system that allowed students to race one another in solving basic math problems. So, I decided to implement the concept as a smartphone app.
I decided to start with Android because the entry cost is nice and low. So, I created my first app, Monican Math to allow one to practice basic math skills. I need to add a high score screen (probably will use ICE). I also want to add the capability for students to submit their scores to a web site (probably will use Rob Miracle’s REST tutorial, MySQL and PHP) so that an evil teacher like myself could get a report to see who is doing their homework.
I’m hoping to add lots of neat features and more challenging problems over the summer. Wish me luck!
Best,
