Just conducted the first CoronaSDK workshop in Sydney, Australia

Just conducted the first CoronaSDK workshop in Sydney for AUC (Apple University Consortium) where participants are from member Universities. It went fine despite the fact that the simulator by itself is only 50% effective, as it does not emulate/simulate an app correctly and to compile for and try on the xcode simulator, one requires the Apple Developer certificate, which a participant might or might not have.

This weekend, I shall be conducting another in Melbourne.

One acquaintance who is the IT and Math teacher in a private school is running a club for the students outside of the school hours and curriculum. Another was wanting to use CoronaSDK to teach first years and make it interesting for them as he attempts to add something new every year to demonstrate the field of IT.

this is all in Australia, what about other parts of the world? Any experiences, plans, etc??

cheers,

Sure would have loved to go to this course. I had read about it. Not being a uni student or involved with a uni there was no way I could have gone.

Do you have any plans to run one for non-uni affiliated developer’s? [import]uid: 22878 topic_id: 13474 reply_id: 49452[/import]

hey Jayant… congrats for your first workshop…
I have conducted 2 workshops here in Singapore and my third one for 20 participants from a private firm here will be conducted this September… we are getting good response for our workshops… Seems like more and more people are getting to know about Corona… :slight_smile: [import]uid: 71210 topic_id: 13474 reply_id: 49454[/import]

I would love to do a similar exercise in India, I can easily cover Mumbai and Pune to begin with. Lets hook up to discuss further.

My concern was more with credibility approaching colleges since earlier we did not have any apps earlier, now that we have a couple i want to push this forward in colleges, computer science universities, startup forums and mobile conferences.

I am ok to hookup / share / learn with people who have done similar events.

@Zaphod8,
Hmmm, I know what you are saying…I was trying to organize AC/DC (not the rock band) but the Developers Conference, the number of takers in Australia were not as many, so had to postpone the idea for later.

If you can get a group of people together, I can come down and organise a workshop for 20-30 people.

@Technowand,
That’s good, What kind of a response did you get from Canberra? Singapore has more active developers and people that want to jump at things, it is a good economy. There were talks with the University there, as I was Staff with the uni at Thompson road.

@Altaf
You are Pune based, right? You can try to ge the students from Bharti Vidyapeth, and other Engg colleges that are interested to create Mobile apps. from there you can take it further. The only difference will be that though you will get many takers there, things are different than in many countries like Singapore, US, Canada, Austrlia, UK, NZ, etc.

It will be nice to share experiences here, as the participants are from a real mix. Technowand might be running the same for developers only, I got people from the university, so they are not necessarily developers and since the pre-requisite for Corona was *NO* programming required, I had some from design, some from commerce, some Architecture, a couple of Dr’s (PhD) who were involved in research and so on, so a real multi-variety.

cheers,

@Jayant we are not started mobile development related activities in australia. right now its only in Singapore and there are plans to conduct similar operations in India also, Southern region, to be precise.
@altafr feel free to contact me on renjith@technowand.com for any help in this regards… [import]uid: 71210 topic_id: 13474 reply_id: 49459[/import]
