Kindle Fire performance

I wanted to start a thread after spending some time with my Kindle Fire last night.

I threw a test build of my game I am finishing up onto the KF. As some others have reported elsewhere the audio was lagging a second behind, sometimes more depending on what was going on in game. Transitions were a bit sluggish overall but passable. There was now and again a lag spike that caused animation to jerk. Overall I am not too impressed with the KF’s performance. My droid (first release) exhibits none of these performance issues with the same app build.

So my thinking is this has to be a software problem with the KF’s modified android 2.2 OS. The other possibility is they really cut corners on things besides the CPU that would hurt performance. On paper the hardware “shouldn’t” be performing this badly. I also know we are dealing with daily builds and that KF support probably isn’t ready for primetime just yet.

For those who also have a KF, what are your thoughts on performance? Are you having similar issues with delayed sound and random animation lag spikes?

Me too. Been playing with the Kindle Fire and not very impressed. The price and the brand will draw people, but what a disappointment.

7" screen is good for some apps, but lousy for reading. The sample magazines are unreadable the text is so small. Steve Jobs was right!

We are testing our game Jetrats Defense on kindle fire now.
This game is very smooth on iPad and iPhone, however the performance is really bad on kindle fire…

All SFX always lagging for 0.5-1 sec. For some levels, which have more rats come out, the game just can’t play, there only have 20-30fps at most i think.

We tested with the newest build: 2012.805

Very disappointed about that. We played some 3d games on Kindle fire like Jelly Defense, Deer Hunter Reloaded(by glu), all are very smooth, so i just wondering if this’s caused by the underlaying of Corona.

I personally never took it any further on the Kindle Fire. From what I read elsewhere the sound lag is just how the Kindle Fire performs. Not much can be done. [import]uid: 56820 topic_id: 18471 reply_id: 105127[/import]
