Was wondering where this was at?

Yes, I noticed this only had a couple of votes in the feature request section but it seems that for “Corona” to offer a true “cross platform” development framework the APK Expansion support should be high priority.
Why is this? Well because if you are developing a game that is larger than 50MB (which is very easy to do), your app is no longer cross platform. Well at least not for android through the Google Play store.
Amazon, Nook, and iOS all allow for over 50MB APK so it’s very limiting to have to re-work the entire app to handle Android distribution through Google. [import]uid: 190375 topic_id: 35285 reply_id: 140261[/import]

Well, since you’ve called me out by name…
We’ve actually completed the 1st phase of expansion file support back in December, where we’ve refactored our internal Android code to support loading files from a “patch” or “main” expansion file. We’ve even tested this by creating an expansion file by hand, copied the file to the right folder on our Android device, and Corona was able to load resource files from it successfully. That said, we still have more work to do before we’re prepared to roll it out.
At the moment, expansion file support is on hold because we have higher priority tasks to work on. The next highest priority task for us is to remove the default Android permissions, which we plan on doing very soon.

Thankyou Sir…
Figured you’d have an answer. Just checking if I need to do the whole first run download all assets coding or wait and use the expansion files.
