Latest update destroyed everything

hey,

I just installed the latest update. When glider restarted, an error window popped up:

“Some modules are missing, therefore a bunch of other modules could not be loaded.”

unfortunately I didn’t make a screenshot…

When I continue, all my projects are gone (inside the IDE) and nothing works.

what now?

EDIT: I deleted the version and reinstalled. But it’s the same…

EDIT II: I used AppCleaner to delete glider, reinstalled it, still the same… invoked the update process, it installed a bunch of modules. After restart my list of projects appear for half a second and then everything’s empty again. kinda pissed off right now. please help quick or this is a lost day of work!

EDIT III: I downloaded the latest dmg from your site, installed. Still the same …

EDIT IV: I guess I’ll go back and use a plain text editor again.

Everyone who wants to purchase this tool: think twice! I really liked working with this. But the ammount of bugs and rough edges really drives me nuts. please tell me how to fix this asap!

EDIT V: I forgot to mention that I use the mac version

so I searched this forum for similar issues. It seems the mac support is suboptimal.

I found a thread where you suggest to delete the user folder - it did that and now it seems to be working again, although I had to reimport my projects again… well, that is not what you expect from a tool you paid money for…

Hello Canupa,

Here is what we do to test the updates to ensure it does not break the install, for each platform:

  1. Does the update work on the most recent version previous to the update?

  2. Does the update work on a fresh installation?

If these 2 tests pass (and they do) then we go ahead and push the update.

One thing we do that might be causing this is from time to time we repackage the update with the Glider installer (especially after major updates) so that newcomers do not have to download updates when they install. This precludes testing older versions of Glider that were downloaded before that. In the future we will take extra measures to ensure we change update centers every time we do this. I believe this is why your Glider version was breaking but others were not.

We try hard to release a high quality product but there is only so much we can test. And then there are some other problems (like lackluster Java support for Mac) that we cannot really do anything about but wait for an update.

oh yeah. java support for mac is really ugly.

thanks for the answer.
