LevelHelper? Yes or No?

Hello everyone, I am just here today to ask if anyone has purchased LevelHelper. I was considering purchasing it. I am new to Corona SDK and wondered if it would help out a bit with development. So please, give me some feedback! Thanks!

It’s a must have whether you are new or a pro. The developer is incredible when it comes to support. If you have an android device you can see something I recently did with LevelHelper here (its free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.interalia.kungpoo

One thing to keep in mind is that you will also need Sprite Helper in order to use Level Helper.

That’s my 2 cents.

I must say, i can’t live without it
I have bought it and what you get for that price is really really worth it!!
This is my game, done with LH https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.amapps.pighunterfree

It truly is GREAT, however.
For my particular game, it’s insane to use. I use 100’s of joints, and do very heavy physics and my “worlds” are 1000’s of pixels wide and high (using culling so when things get within 200 of outside bounds they pop in behind the scenes).

For me, I ended writing my own level editor just for this game.

HOWEVER I will say for my other games, this is a big help. It just depends on how you use it. Support is great, and the product isn’t too hard to use.

I know Ansca is working on the level editor for mac, can’t wait for that to come out to try it out

I didn’t like LevelHelper at all. Although the developer is very responsive, the product itself is somewhat “misadvertised”. LH is NOT a mere level design tool, it’s more like a complete “game creator” that generates a full, working game for you. No doubt, many people love this and swear by the product. But if you prefer to code your own game, then LH is not useful because the code it generates is virtually impossible to “reverse engineer”, and frankly I don’t know how efficient and memory-saavy it is.

If you want a more “visual” game maker tool that works with Corona, then LH might be a dream come true. If you prefer to code and you are fussy about efficiency, speed, and designing a game from the core up, then I would not recommend it.
