live camera with image overlay

need the ability to overlay an image on the camera view during preview (ie before clicking to actually take the image). ie a frame to surround the edges of the image, or an object to look like it is placed “within” the image.

i see Titanium does it, so presumably is potentially possible, although there are issues regarding camera resolution vs screen resolution
