Looking for programming help, Fleshed out design.

Hello everyone!

I’ll start by introducing myself; my name is Corey and I currently work as a design draftsman, however my passion lies in art and game development.

I’ve been designing games for years now, and have worked with multiple teams on various projects - none have yet to be finished to completion due to various reasons - most of them fell victim to the usual amateur trap of thinking too big – a trap in which I’m sure we’ve all found ourselves in at some point.

I live with my girlfriend, who is also interested in art and game creation, and another programmer who has some experience in game creation but most of his interest lies in tool creation, and he is currently busy working with a few of his own commitments.

I am posting this today to present an idea that all three of us have been brainstorming, discuss our future plans and describe the way we work in hopes of finding a new team member. We have got some nice design documents up, I’ve been hacking away at Corona to attempt making bits and pieces of it - however my programming skills are below average (I’m an artist!). I have parts of it made, but they simply aren’t up to the standard that I wish the game to be.

I am looking for a Corona programmer that is willing to dedicate some of their time to making this happen, along side us. We have other ideas floating around too - and the ultimate goal of making more games, it is our dream.

We are looking for someone that has a passion for game development like we do; our vision of the game is now - not a large game, but a well polished one. Nice streamlined programming, clean graphics and a nice simple user interface.

Now I don’t want to discuss all of the details of the game here, but in a nutshell it is a pet based game in the spirit of Tamagotchi. We are already having a great time making pet sprites and animations, and content for the game. Now we need someone with the passion and skills to help us make it happen!

I would also like to describe the way we work, as I’ve been in a few teams I’ve found some big things that help a game move forward and not crash and burn – a lot of these things lie in the way a team is constructed, and their methods of working. I love to hear every team members opinions on every aspect of the game, if a programmer has an opinion or an idea for the direction of the art - or vise versa, I want to hear it. I will listen and take on board all ideas; however I will also have the final say. Normally this will be a combination of ideas that I think will make the most of every team members input, and help the game move forward in the best way possible.

This may make me sound like I am taking advantage of my position; however the reason for this way of working is to avoid any road blocks in development. I’ve been in a lot of teams that can’t come to a conclusion on the way a game should move forward. Normally this will lead to either huge delays, or the complete disintegration of a team and their game.

I believe this hierarchy will stop that. The team isn’t big enough at the moment, but should it grow it will follow the logic that all leads have the final say over the people they are leading. Lead artists will have the final decision in any disputes of the artists, Art director will have the final decisions on any lead artist ideas, etc. But we don’t have to worry about that now!

With this work ethic, we hope to snowball through our games and come out bigger each time, and to kick off this snowball effect we are looking for a new, dedicated programmer with a passion for designing games, that will say his opinions and work with the team to integrate them in a way which will benefit the game!

Now for one of the major indie development hurdles, we currently have next to no funding. I have money aside to license Corona, after that we will have to press through making the game as good as we can - having fun in the process. If you are interested we can discuss everything more via messenger, send me an email at coreylh@live.com.au, or add me too your messenger at corza334@hotmail.com.

Thank you for your time, have fun developing!

I will help as long as I don’t have to worry about programming. I can do anything. I can program most apps in about 24 - 38 hours depending on how much code is needed. I will need some sort of idea of the game and recieve all the images. My email is

Hello Gupte3!

I have sent an email to the address stated.

Thank you for your reply [import]uid: 56377 topic_id: 9790 reply_id: 35795[/import]

This position is now open again.

I’d like to append, the programmed that is taken on board will need good communication skills. I send out emails all the time to my team, not to pressure them - just to see how everything is going. I need to be able to communicate and help them all be on the same page.
