Lua Books

I saw the recommended book listings for Lua books and was flabbergasted at how old each book was.
Isnt Lua a work in progress? So, what good are 4-10 year old books?
Isnt anything 1-2 years old?

I am confused.

Programming in Lua Second Edition (blue cover) is a very good book and written by the creator of Lua. It is written for Lua 5.1 which is what Corona uses.

Lua 5.2 was just released in December. There are still no books for it, but Corona hasn’t upgraded to 5.2 yet either. (There are some breaking changes so we haven’t decided if the new features outweigh breaking backwards compatibility).

Lua 5.1 was released in 2006. Notice Lua releases can take years. That’s why Lua books may have a longer shelf life.
