The 2016 international Lua conference is being organized to be in Rio de Janeiro (http://luaconf.com). The Lua team’s presence is already confirmed and the conference will open with a keynote by Roberto, Lua’s main architect. It’s time to plan a trip to Brazil.
I’d love to go to one of these types of events myself one day, but so far it hasn’t worked out.
An earlier announcement: LuaConf
For anybody interested in the above, there’s also the Lua Workshop in October in San Francisco (not sure if Corona Con has narrowed down a date yet, but I think it was around then too).
As a side note, the LuaConf organizer has also been trying to get some traction going on a Lua blog, which I’ve not seen mentioned here in the forums: Lua.Space
