Luaglider Wont Open.

Heya folks.

I recently started using LuaGlider, and Im having a blast with the IDE.

Last night, I, for other reasons, cleaned all Java on my MacBook and reinstalled it. This morning, when I was about to start programming, I tried to open LuaGlider, but nothing happened.

I can “launch” LuaGlider, and it briefly shows in the dock, but then it disappears. No warnings, no errors or logs. Nothing. Not even a started process in Activity Monitor.

According to java.com, I have the newest and recommended version installed. I have tried to reinstall LuaGlider, and I even rebooted my computer. I have tried google, and I wrote a message to the developers of LuaGlider, but nothing there aswell.

So does any of you guys know anything about this problem? Any help are much appreciated!

Specs:

Mountain Lion 10.8.3 (No new updates available)

Java 7u17 (Newest and recommended from java.com)

LuaGlider 1.3 (only download I can find from their homepage)

I have the same problem. Worked on Glider til about 2 am this morning. Closed machine down (Mac - Mountain Lion). Opened Glider again at 11.am (half an hour ago - London time). Same situation as Alkalaer. Only change I made to machine in between times was deleting all cookies.

I rebooted, remove and re-installed Glider - no change.

Hope developers are reading! Need to work now.

You guys got me scared to close Glider now lol.

See, I knew this post would end up making a fool out of myself.

As I mentioned, I messed up Java on my computer last night. According to Java.com, I managed to install everything again. But apparently not.

Since I lost way to many work hours trying to get LuaGlider to work, I figured I might just get some work done in TextWrangler. When I opened Corona SDK simulator, I was told I needed some Java RE 6. I clicked ‘Install’ and now it all works.

Great first post on forum I guess  To my defence, OSX Software Update couldnt find any updates and neither java.com though!

@Alkalaer, glad to read you’ve fixed your problem. I can open Corona simulator ok, so doesn’t seem to be a Java problem here. I’ve got Codehelper Pro which I’ve been using until I get Glider fixed. Have had no problems with that. I’ll double check my Java install just in case.

What version of Java have you got?

@sean453 Version 7 Update 17 (build 1.7.0_17-b02), but that hasnt changed.

When I got the dialog box telling me about a missing Java installation, I got so stoked that I didn’t really read what it said before hitting Install, but I think it was Java RE 6. You could maybe try some the suggestions on this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4136010?start=0&tstart=0

But it really seems strange, if you havent changed anything in your Java files lately.

Re-installed glider again, this time remembering to remove all folders in application support first  and it’s back working. Had to redo preferences and so on but at least I’m in business again.

Sent log files to developers.

All the best.

@sean453 glad to hear that.

Hello Everyone,

Glad to see the issue has been resolved. We are very sorry about the inconveniences the java transition is causing. Rest assured we will be testing a lot on the new Oracle Java 7 platform for the 1.8 (now looking more like 1.9) release. Thanks for sending logs to us, it helps us track down the problem.

Just found this thread because I’m having a similar problem - rebuilt my Windows 7 PC and now I can’t get LuaGlider to run a project any more (even a brand new one).

I get nothing, no logs, no output, no simulator start up.

Is this thread implying that Java MUST BE v6 and not v7?

I assume that was definitely it - uninstalled V7 and installed V6 and now its working again.

@jleigh,

Yes for now please use java 6 if java 7 is causing issues. Glider 1.9 is being developed and tested with Java 7 so it will work best with the most recent java updates.
