m4a format won't play on Windows, but will on Mac

The title pretty much sums it up.

I have been developing on a Mac box, so I haven’t seen any issues, but my boss tells me that on his Windows box he is experiencing this ever since we converted all our audio assets to m4a:

We tried using mp3s, and it’s no problem, but as soon as we started using m4a, his setup has been complaining. We also tried installing the k-lite codec pack to account for native support issues, and now I am out of ideas.

Is this a bug, does it have something to do with the NTFS filesystem, or…? Please help, Corona wizards. [import]uid: 117153 topic_id: 26603 reply_id: 326603[/import]

m4a is not currently supported on Windows or Android. (We are trying to find friendly licensed, patent unimcumbered decoders for m4a for these platforms but haven’t found anything yet. Android 4.0 with OpenSL ES and Windows 7 Media Foundation look like they may finally open a door for us, but both are not backwards compatible.)

Ok, thanks for that. We’ll be using ogg then  [import]uid: 117153 topic_id: 26603 reply_id: 107861[/import]
