Mac app store publishing

Hi,
If you remove the simulator window, wouldn’t that qualify as a Mac or Windows native build in many ways?

Team Ansca are already there it is about just creating a native build that would run the app as a Windows Desktop version or a Mac Desktop version rather than as a mobile simulator.

when do you think this could be done?

There are some limitations of the Simulator that they’d have to address before simply removing the surrounding mockup image, including but not limited to

  • native.newTextField()
  • multiple native.showAlert calls
  • Facebook and OpenFeint
  • In-App Purchases
  • media.playVideo
  • media.showCamera
  • etc.

All in all, it’s pretty close FWIW.

@BeyondTheTech, some things are not applicable to native apps like In-App purchase. Alert Ui’s are easier natively on a Mac or windows. The changed should be minimal and it should work.

However it is up to Carlos to see this as a potential to get this on the priority anvil. [import]uid: 3826 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 24509[/import]

It is on our roadmap. We are aware and we know what features to implement/remove, etc.

It is a matter of priorities/time/feedback.

And don’t forget about webOS - Sorry Carlos, your roadmap must be very big !

You guys are doing a great job. What an awesome product.

P [import]uid: 13932 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 24827[/import]

what is webOS?

C. [import]uid: 24 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 24838[/import]

LOL, Carlos, what are miter joints?

But seriously, about the app store, it would be a huge reason for me personally to keep on writing apps in Corona. My belief, and I could be wrong, is that the app store concept is just as big a revolution as the iPhone & iPad are. I’m not saying that the Mac App Store will be a panacea for all developers, but it gives us another market in which to sell our games.

Also, on a somewhat similar topic, how about an option to bundle one’s app and the Corona simulator into a Mac/Windows executable? This would be great for beta testers, for example, or for the next 48-hour challenge, so we could let everyone play our games without exposing our source code. All the current limitations of the simulator would still apply.

Dreamer huh? Ha!!!

Well, whatever you guys decide to do, I’m sure I’ll be right there with ya. You’ve done a great job so far, and I have every reason to believe that will continue.

Ah, good tunes Carlos, hehehe. Well, I know you know what webOS is, but here is a nice intro and a look at the new veer for those that don’t.

What can I say, I am a tech geek. What a beautiful, elegant piece of work that webOS is. And REAL multi-tasking to boot. Sure looks a lot beter than that Seattle BLOATWARE!

I must admit my bias, I used to do Palm programming in C and pascal about 10 years ago. Good old Palm III and Palm IIIc, oh yeah.

It actually looks like this would be easy to support for the Titanium folks. Same software architecture. And maybe the Game Closure guys too (just found them - nice to see the Paul Graham connection (I am a fan)).

Cheers,

Peter

Fantastic news, thanks Carlos!

I’d rather have it sooner than later, but just knowing it’s on the list makes it that much easier to concentrate on Corona.

Thanks again.

+1 for me as well. [import]uid: 51497 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 31749[/import]

Seems like a great idea and is probably lower hanging fruit than implementing completely different os’ like webOS.
Carlos are you still considering it? [import]uid: 8545 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 49560[/import]

…windows too. [import]uid: 5022 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 63663[/import]

have not seen this thread for a while then today i got a notification

well we were hoping webOS would take off. you all did see corona working on a palm III device running webOS right?

as for windows store. bleechhhhhhhhhhhh windows still around? LOL

c. [import]uid: 24 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 63673[/import]

LOL… Rip WebOS.

I was referring to Mac and Windows desktop publishing… [import]uid: 5022 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 63676[/import]

Surprisingly, there is a new update on WebOS 3.0.4 77, which will supposedly make the TouchPad snappier, a new camera App, easier to find apps and other improvements.

For an OS that is *dead* that’s more alive than some of the other systems/manufacturers. I am just an owner of a 32GB Touchpad, not a fanboy, but I believe that this is an amazing piece of software and supports true multi-tasking, I can have linux running in card, and swipe between the browser, angry birds and linux without issues or lags.

This was the device that was a sell out literally on the first day of it’s release (at least here) There are over a million units sold. So if we can get the ability to create apps for the WebOS, there is a sufficiently large market out there.

Anyways, can only be hopeful…

Jayant,

where do WebOS user shop for apps? [import]uid: 5712 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 64256[/import]

The only place I know at the moment is via the device, there is an app called the HP App Catalog and if some other users have Preware, then the other apps come in from Preware which is like Jailbreaking, but allowed legally by HP and has some wonderful extensions.
