Pretty interesting thread about Mac App store and thanks for sharing the link. Mac computers have a brand new source this year for programs. The shop is one of several options. Full-scale computer products are usually dispersed through a wide variety of resources. Now, the Mac Application Store has become a severe player in the game with 100 million downloads. http://www.appisaurus.com/1423-100-million-app/ [import]uid: 111127 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 73719[/import]

It’s been a couple of months since the video, any news on Corona-made MacOS apps?

Now with OSX 10.8 in developer beta, IMO this is a priority. OS X will now have the game center and many of the iPad iOs features that we now use. I for one would love to be able to build for Mac as well as the new Windows marketplace, But Mac I think is a much higher priority, as Apple is working towards seamless integrating between the OS X platform and the iOS platform.

Agreed. It’d be amazing to get a build which allows pretty basic building to the Mac App Store (just the windowed game and a default menu bar), just like they showed in the video.

Then roll out a followup release right on the heels of Mountain Lion with Game Center, IAP, and more complete compatibility with Corona’s mobile APIs. Hopefully it’s not too optimistic to think it should be fairly straightforward to replicate these iOS features for the Mac.

The Mac App Store is a great opportunity in general, but if Ansca could make that happen right after Mountain Lion’s release, it seems like that would be a prime time for our apps to get some exposure with the Store. The Mountain Lion download will bring people to the App Store and Apple and the press will be touting GC and the other new features.

It’s not a demand though; I’m just excited for Mountain Lion, and looking forward to being able to build games to the Mac  [import]uid: 87138 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 87680[/import]

I wonder what size graphics assets would be good for OS X apps… [import]uid: 10389 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 90643[/import]

Well, you could always future-proof your graphics by designing them at 2048x1536

For my current game I’m planning to have it at 960x640 whenever Mac publishing drops. It’s the kind of game where it doesn’t make sense to just keep scaling up the size of it indefinitely, and since I’ll want the highscores/mp stuff to work cross platform, I’ll want it to play relatively the same too. Subscribing to this thread - to get notified when this feature becomes available. [import]uid: 63121 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 95481[/import]

Hopefully this is more than a quick and dirty port. I’d like to see full Desktop App support. Mac developers will need things like open/save dialog boxes, ability to run shell commands, integrated AppleScript support, etc…

If this comes about for Corona, then I can make it my one stop shop for all app development! [import]uid: 115085 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 103066[/import]

I’ve been waiting for months and they said in their twitter feed last november that mac builds would be coming in January 2012.

I renewed in Feb expecting this was going to be released a little late but there hasn’t been any update

I understand that things can fall behind schedule in the development process, but throw something out there and then not providing any information is not cool in my book.

still waiting [import]uid: 17482 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 104137[/import]

aarongman - this is still coming, but date is tbd. We will have more info on timing when we release our public roadmap. That is coming soon. Understood that we previously gave a date and have missed that. That’s why we are going to be more transparent on roadmap going forward.

thanks,

There are those of us that would be willing to beta test new features - just let us know  [import]uid: 87791 topic_id: 5068 reply_id: 106884[/import]
