Malware detected!?

We have the following game in Early Access (BETA) on Google Play and get the info from some users they detect malware in the game:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mcpeppergames.ColorDefense

It was developed with Corona SDK and we can assure there is no bad code in the game. Is there something which can trigger malware detecting software? Does anybody have the same problem and did fix it somehow?

Dani

What build version of Corona did you build with?

List plugins you used too.

This will be hard for folks to help debug, but this info will still be useful to all.

Hi Dani, we would need to know more about the report. Sometimes malware detectors can be too aggressive and flag problems that are not really problems. For instance, four out of 55 some odd Windows virus/malware detectors found a problem with our use of an analytics DLL that we used to report crashes. It “could be” used for unannounced user data tracking. It was 100% harmless but still it was being flagged.

Without knowing the specifics of the report, it will be hard for us to look into it.

Rob

I think it was 2018.3194

Thanks for the info.

But we need to know what the report said. If it just said “This app is malware”, that’s not useful, but if it said “we think this is malware because we detected XYZ virus”, then that’s far more useful. Knowing what anti-virus software was running would be helpful.

Rob

I have no detailed information, just some user feedback which get malware messages. I will try to get more details from them.

Best,

Dani

I get this occasionally… normally a crappy 1 star review about “malware”.

Getting any info out of the customer is worse than getting blood out of a stone!
