Mangia - the Local Food Finder ( iPhone + iPod )

Today, we are glad to announce our first Corona app Mangia. Mangia is a blend between Tinder and Urbanspoon which locates food nearby and presents it to you, one dish at a time. Using the mechanics made popular by Tinder, you swipe right to like a dish and left to pass. This makes finding your lunch a breeze. Mangia is available now, FREE on the AppStore.

I think this idea has legs.

Looks very nicely designed and built! Congratulations. I am heading over to download and check it out in detail.

Downloading…

The app looks and works great! I think I spotted a minor mistake in wording. 3rd info page (the one that has the button, Got It) says

"Swipe left to like a dish … and left to pass … "

Shouldn’t it say

"Swipe left to like a dish … and right to pass … "

?

Additional feedback. The page to add a food item gets a little messy on an iPhone 4. The map shows up blocking lower half of the picker wheel for price entry and the picker wheel is acting funny. Let me know if you need some screenshots to show you the problem.

Hope this helps. All the best.

When the app started it asked me if the application could use my location even when NOT using it so I replied No since I want it only to use my location when using it.

After some time of loading I get an error: GPS Location Error. A precise location cannot be determined.

I went into settings and enabled GPS and it works (although no dishes near (in Tokyo)).

I guess this is kind of an iOS8 fail wording it like this? Can you lower the permission to only allow when app is open? This kind of permission can make people uncomfortable I would think.

But it looks really nice and navigation is sweet! Camera solution is so cool. Congrats!

@jonjonsson Is this something new with iOS 8? Do you know how to lower the permission level?

@ksan Can you provide those screens for the iphone 4 stuff. thanks

I’m guessing todays daily fixes:

  • iOS: Request location services permissions when using location services on iOS 8. NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription will need to be added to the plist or the permission won’t be requested correctly. Casenum: 35679

BTW

  1. if you choose camera
    • sign to add photo
  2. Choose All photos
  3. Go back to Photos
  4. Now there is no back button and you are stuck

Gotta learn to read those daily updates. Is the select all photos a new feature of iOS8 aswell?

Yes I think so. I just checked my own app, I have this problem now too. I think Corona needs to fix this.

Please file a bug report.  Engineering is wanting iOS 8 related issues in the bug tracker so we can make sure to address them all.
