Hi, I have been lately thinking of an app to help my class teacher during our trip to Germany.
We, a big group are traveling to Germany on March 31st as a student exchange trip, and we’re staying there for about 12 days, of course we will explore Germany and go to places we never been before, but because we are a group of 31 students, and there are high risks that someone might get lost (it happened before), I thought of an app in which our teacher which happens to be our guide, can see us all using his iPhone, basically the app should display the current position, and blips of us ( the students ), and the teacher should be the main blip ( different color/shape etc. ) whereas if anyone in the group is far 20 meters away from the main blip ( the teacher ), the app should send a notification to our teacher, and notify him what’s the name of the student, and how far is he.
Now, planning is easy, but doing is not.
How do I make such thing? Is it possible?! I’d really appreciate it if someone helps me! I really need to do this!
The hardest part will be figuring out how to get all the devices to communicate with the teacher and visa versa. The easiest way would be to use some form of online service that you can store the GPS coordinates of each student. Of course you have to have internet access to report and look up the locations.
Corona SDK can communicate with various online services (you might want to look at Parse.com or Coronium.io) to handle that. The Map app can have custom pin points attached to it based on a GPS Latitude and Longitude coordinate. Corona SDK can get the current GPS coordinate as well. So this is most certainly doable.

Now sure how Corona deals with Bluethooth access but if it is possible then you could check for loss of signal (student went too far from the teacher iphone) and then trigger a notification…
Just a suggestion!
