Mapview:customize icons and improve info windows

People who works with maps need these to basic features:
-Customize icon… we need to place marker with customized icons
-Improve the infoWindows:
-Option to load one image into the infowindow
-Option in add a matrix of buttons with each listened each one.

Without theses two options, mapview are too basic to be useful. [import]uid: 113117 topic_id: 30270 reply_id: 330270[/import]

Good luck! I am waiting for this for almost an year now. I even have an from (now former) Corona co-founder that this is of high priority. That email was October last year. There are others who are waiting for more than. This is one of the reasons, I am looking beyond Corona SDK. The current support for map, text field, and other UI widgets are very rudimentary. I am constantly receiving emails from the users about performance issues with tableViews (even widget buttons). There is still no support for maps on Android. Corona is starting to not be enough for me. There are not really improvements of features, just only bug fixes. Sad. [import]uid: 113117 topic_id: 30270 reply_id: 121288[/import]

@noeguer - agreed. I was reviewing and was patiently waiting for some basic features listed in the roadmap & the last blog from May about the roadmap. I’ve been searching for alternatives, Corona SDK may be OK for games, but for utils it sucks. I’ve found Titanium Appcelerator that has a lot to offer for the utils part that Corona lacks. I wish Corona supported the same as Appcelerator does. For ex. maps, the api on Appcelerator is much more complete and corona has been ignoring user requests for months about it [import]uid: 10141 topic_id: 30270 reply_id: 121291[/import]

@Taruga , do you know how much cost a license of Appcelerator? It says it`s free but at the same time it says that going free we do not have access to the enterprise extensions(?) so, would you know how that works?

PS: BTW, my area is business apps at first and so to be fair with my businesses competition and not so behind them I have to have an eagle vision along the way am running right now. :]
Thanks,
Rodrigo. [import]uid: 89165 topic_id: 30270 reply_id: 121293[/import]

I’m afraid that I agree. There is a lot I’d like to do, and can potentially be done, with mapview.

Unfortunately, I do think that Apple has tipped the cart over with their new maps - though I haven’t looked at the new maps API in Obj-C, I’d expect it to be quite different on many levels, simply to provide the improved features. [import]uid: 8271 topic_id: 30270 reply_id: 121322[/import]

Hey guys - thanks for the posts. All this feedback is well taken. As Walter has posted, the last several weeks have been largely dedicated to OS issues.

Having said that, Android WebViews and now done, and Android MapViews are coming very soon. It may not have all the features you need, but I am making a note of this and we’ll push to add those as soon as possible.

noeguer - what do you mean by “-Option in add a matrix of buttons with each listened each one.”? [import]uid: 10668 topic_id: 30270 reply_id: 121455[/import]
