Marketing feedback please

Hi

I launched my app ‘BalLoonytic’ in December and I’m looking for how best to market it. I’ve tried the review sites, without success, and have produced a Facebook page, Twitter account and a web site to go with the app. I’ve included it in the Ansca showcase and have also featured it on my own web site…

iTunes link :
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/balloonytic/id488075242?mt=8

Any advice/feedback for best results would be appreciated :

  • use forums?
  • produce a freemium version?
  • etc

Kind regards

produce a freemium version?
Yes, put it in as many people’s hands as possible and remove any barrier (price).

You could also invest some time&money to produce a better trailer, I don’t see much marketing material that review sites could use to promote your game on your website.

I would also suggest to invest some money in music&sounds.
We are so used to punchy soundtracks now that I found the lack of sound important (could make the experience a bit boring).

Just my 2 cents.
Good luck! [import]uid: 95346 topic_id: 24018 reply_id: 96863[/import]

Hi

Thanks for that, especially if you bought a version to test it…

… if so, I wonder why you didn’t hear any SFX. There isn’t a music loop in this version (music is very expensive for worldwide distribution) but there are sound effects. Let me know and I’ll look into it.

I am considering a freemium version which would also include 3 levels of difficulty, the current being the hardest. It’s just a case of being convinced that any additional time spent would be worth it.

http://www.balloonytic.com - there is a video, though it was difficult to capture as it’s a tilt based game. I admit that this could be better, thanks. Is there any other ‘marketing material’ that could be useful? I’m new to this, so not sure what else to add - perhaps free desktop backgrounds - that sort of thing?

Thanks again for your response.

Sorry if that wasn’t clear, I was talking about the video trailer on your website, I could hear some fx but it’s true I felt the lack of music.

Members of the forums have been throwing links of sites where you can find music for cheap.
I believe that you will be able to find it quickly.

It’s been proven that following this strategy is worth the investment.
At least you will get some datas that will help you build your strategy further.

Reflection (+screen capture software like Quicktime) might be a suitable solution for a better trailer.
I have heard good things about it, might be lagging a bit sometimes? You can try the software for free and see how it performs.

perhaps free desktop backgrounds
I might be wrong but I believe that it would not be the best use of your time.

Is the game iPad compatible? If yes, I would display a bigger video in the site’s header in an iPad frame.
If I were you, I would invest my time in producing a free version + add some music for a reasonable price.
That would be the best thing to do, because the artwork is actually good, your website also.

Good luck!
