need the ability to overlay a PNG interface over the map view (ie there is a curved rectangular hole cut out in the interface showing the map below)
also need to be able to add custom PNG’s for each marker (different PNG’s per marker)
are both of these something i could do in a native web popup instead with a google map?

I don’t know why this hasn’t ever come up before but, the ability to search for something on google maps would really help us out on our current app. Then being able to click on one of the markers that came up from the search and choose from options of things to do with it (i.e. get directions to it, find out the name of the it, get the address of it, etc.). That would be really awesome.

Custom png’s for markers would be nice too…but I feel not being able to click on the pop-up that appears when a user taps on a marker and then load something from that is a show stopper for many applications.
