Max app size for Nook and Fire?

Does anyone know the max Mb size for these tablets? I’ve heard the Fire can take an app larger than 50 mb if it’s uploaded in sections.

Reading the Nook Tablet blurb, 50 mb seems to be the max - is this correct?

I believe that in both cases as well as Google Play, 50MB is the max size that can be downloaded from the stores.

If you need more than than that, you have to host the remaining bits on your own server and your app would have to download it from your server and store it in local storage.

Keep in mind, the Kindle Fire is a 6GB device with no external storage. The Android world isn’t fond of big apps. [import]uid: 19626 topic_id: 25425 reply_id: 102739[/import]

Thanks RobMiracle - yep, small is beautiful as they say as far as Android goes. I was looking at a storybook app on the Nook app site and its 50 pages clock in at 3 meg!

I’d like to know how they do that : - ) [import]uid: 94653 topic_id: 25425 reply_id: 107021[/import]

I’m looking into the solution of hosting app assets on a server as my app will exceed 50MB no matter what.

So now:

  1. How do I do this with Corona? How/where do I download the assets to with respect to Corona?
  2. How do I access the assets from within the app?

Are there any tech notes on this?

Thank you.
