media.newRecording , which real format?

Can anyone tell me which is the real format of the saved file using media.newRecording?

I think always is Mac Aif right?
Why not use wav, is supported by most important browsers…with some compression [import]uid: 113117 topic_id: 27842 reply_id: 327842[/import]

Sorry, we know this is kind of a mess. I think it is AIFF on iOS/Mac. Under Android it is 3GP. Android doesn’t really let us control this. (Android 2.3/OpenSL ES opens new possibilities for us, but we are still locked to 2.2 APIs for the moment.)

Oki Dokie, i can find a workaround on server side…I was not sure if changing the extension the sound was encoded in a different format.

Actually, for Mac/iOS, we might try to respect the ‘aac’ and ‘mp3’ extensions if you provide them. But I’m not sure if this actually works. You might want to try it and see what happens. But Android is always locked to 3GP.
