While on holiday recently, the hotel had an arcade cabinet with Metal Slug playing.
After playing it a few times I had forgotten what a great game this was but more so how impressed I was by the technical aspects of the game.
This got me thinking to how I could recreate some of these elements, mainly the parallax scrolling and checkpoints, where it triggers things to happen at certain points.
This template serves as an example of possible ways to achieve some of these game elements and not to create a playable game.
