Minimum IOS required for Game Center

I am planning to make an update of my game that is currently on the app store. I have added Game Center support and wondered if I need to change the minimum requirements?

Currently the min requirement is as follows:

Requires iOS 3.1 or later (iOS 4.0 Tested)

Do I need to change this to “Requires IOS 4.0 or later” ? [import]uid: 7863 topic_id: 9004 reply_id: 309004[/import]

Gosh from my research it appears that the Game Center functionality is not compatible with iPhone 3G - can anyone confirm is this is correct and if so should I be concerned?

It seems to me that adding this functionality will prevent a large number of potential purchasers from buying my game - is this correct or is the number of people with iPhone 3G only a small group?

Perhaps it is possible to include this functionality but that it will simply not work for those with an iPhone 3G. Or will it crash if someone with a 3G tries to play it?

Any advice appreciated. [import]uid: 7863 topic_id: 9004 reply_id: 32867[/import]

GameCenter requires iOS 4 but I don’t know much about iPhone 3G. For example, does iOS 4 run on iPhone 3G? [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 9004 reply_id: 32968[/import]

Apparently the version of IOS required for Game Center does not run on iPhone 3G.

I am therefore curious what happens on an iPhone 3G that tries to play a game center enabled game? Hopefully it does not crash when a score is submitted or an achievement submitted to openfeint!!! [import]uid: 7863 topic_id: 9004 reply_id: 32971[/import]

Good news! One of my testers has reported that it simply failed silently on the iPhone 3G.

Would be good however to get an official response on this? [import]uid: 7863 topic_id: 9004 reply_id: 33036[/import]

That is good news, thanks. I think I saw mention that the daily build where they introduced Game Center only worked on iOS 4, so I guess Ansca fixed that for the stable release.

For clarification, do you mean that OpenFeint still worked normally, as if there just wasn’t any Game Center? [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 9004 reply_id: 33124[/import]
