Hey,

Here’s the situation. Me and my friend made one awesome idea for a mobile game. So

Then it’s like so:

Game concept: check
Objects: check
Level structure: check
Playing tactics: check
Controls: check
Graphics: check

Programming: WTF? =)

After I smoked 2 packs of cigarettes in those 10 hours when I wanted to make something with Corona I feel powerless :smiley: -->

We are both economics students and now we have 3 months free. If we are average intelligent guys (around 130 IQ, good logic, sense for math, etc.) can we master this programming skills and realize this game Idea with Corona in that time?

Or maybe somebody can tell us how to proceed, as we don’t have more money than for 2 mac comps, Corona (ifIllEvermakeitwork) (and Artist + Graphics designer who offered his skills for whatever we would be able to give him) :smiley:

I’m observing this Corona program for a week now i watched all tutorials on youtube learning slowly but anyway some help would be good to have.

So anyone with anything?

If you have 3mths totally free, then it’s quite possible to learn programming in Corona and get a decent game out…

Secondly: Yes I get to this site before and i watched all video tutorials, not jet through all written stuff. As u said “start with” there have to be smth to continue with, or Not?

Addition: Maybe some advice how to find developer to whom you can trust etc. (My friend have this saying that everybody want to f-word you at the end; And also my personal xp with programmer when we started to talk about the game, first question he asked me was why would I need you to make the game…WTF? Make it for yourself then. -> my Answer )

Still I got a tons of questions but dunno who to ask, as this person will have to be able to handle 5 questions per minute. :smiley:

I am a programmer by hobby and want to create games but can’t due to lack of time… You can consult me anytime you want. I am available on corona chat on IRC through the day (Asian hours).

People here are quite helpful and are willing to help if you are willing to learn.

But do get your requirement clear… Do you want to learn programming or get programmer do something for you. Experienced people get annoyed if you are only asking for help and not trying to learn.

If you are totally new to programming, I recommend learning basics of programming first… I like to point new programmers to this 4-part series.

If you already have the graphics, concept, etc. and the game mechanic is fairly simple, sure, you can do it.

If you have no programming experience, spend a few days learning with Lua. You need to build a foundation. After that, dive into Corona. Pick one of the samples that most closely resembles your game idea and work from there.

Hey,

You’ve got a few answers already but speaking from experience, yes, 3 months is more than enough time.

I created my first app in 3 weeks without having ever done any coding before. (Even basic HTML confused me.)
