Most Used App Icon resizing programs

It’s been a while (too long) since I released an app. But the list of icons and sizes grows ever longer!

When I released a while ago I could go to a website and drag/drop a source and get like 15 different files. Now I am sure it would be much more required icon sizes.

What are the current automated programs/methods that you use to make almost instant icons from 1 image?

Well the good news, if you’re using a later daily build on iOS, we’ve dropped support for iOS 6 and 7 which cut out about half of the iOS icons needed. We also now have the freedom to name them in a much more rational manner.  See: https://docs.coronalabs.com/daily/guide/distribution/buildSettings/index.html#custom-app-icons

The bad news is I don’t know of any of the icon generating sites and apps have updated to eliminate these unneeded icons. Names are irrelevant as long as what’s in build.settings matches what’s included and therefore the old names will work just fine.

Wow! I didn’t know about that change. It would be far easier to organize the icons now.

Anyway, if you still want an automated system, I use this -> http://icon.angrymarmot.org/

If you’re using a build before 3037 you still need the old style (naming and count) icons. If you’re 3037 and later, then the new way is far better. It will, however take time for people to migrate to 3037 and later so tools like the website you posted will need to continue to support the old way.

I have heard that Icon Slayer is pretty good. It writes out Win/Mac as well. I think it might do windows mobile. has nerdy terminal command option to i think.

I wonder what the % of Apple users is still is for 6 and 7? must be super low if its migration time.

Here are the usage statistics according to Apple.

One of the reasons we dropped support for iOS 6 and 7 is their very low numbers. When we announced this:

https://coronalabs.com/blog/2017/01/25/ios-8-to-become-minimum-supported-version/

back in January, iOS 6 was at 0.2% and iOS 7 and 1.06%. We gain so much by dropping these two.
