Moving objects in a circle?

I never really used the physics engine, was wondering how someone would move a rectangular object in a perfect center. I was thinking of adding a pivot joint to where I want the middle of the ‘circle’ to be, aka the radius of the circle and apply movement to the object and since it’d be stuck to the circle itd be forced to move in a circular movement…would this be the right way to do this? Is physics even needed? Feel free to point me in the right direction and I can figure it out from there, thanks in advance

Guess it was easier than I thought. Does the rotation of the image for me too if I add a pivot and just set motorSpeed. If anyone thinks it’s a bad idea or has a better way let me know, thanks.

How do I make a pivot object not have any ‘rebound’. I’m setting motorSpeed to 0 and it boggles left and right a little before standing still in place. I’m sure it’s an easy fix but can’t find it for the life of me

I’m not sure the exact affect you wanted but you could try playing with the frequency/dampingRatio

Thanks for the answer but those specify they are for distance joints while I am using pivot. I still tried using damping since it sounded like it’d work perfectly, but it doesn’t do anything for me. Any other ideas ?

set angular velocity to 0 maybe?

The only time I did something similar I wanted my rotated platform to not be affected by other forces once it stopped.  That being the case I just changed the bodyType to static when ever it stopped rotating.  That’s more of a niche thing so im not sure if it would be applicable to you.

Nope didn’t work either, maybe I am explaining it wrong or somehow am doing something wrong. Here’s a vid as a demo:

It moves in a circle but once I release the touch you can see it boggle instead of instantly stopping like I want it too

Err, yea that isn’t what i was thinking at all.  I also have no advice.  Good luck!

Hehe no problem, thanks for trying
