Multisprites still not available for new Image Sheets system?

I love the new Image Sheets, Image Groups, and Sprites system but there’s one thing that continues to prevent me from using it 2 months after it’s introduction: Multi-Sprites. There’s tons of references to it in this blog post and how it just isn’t available yet:

Is there any word on where we are with multisprites? I simply can not leverage all the benefits that exists with the new system until this is in place and despite searching and searching for any information or progress on this, I can’t find anything and fear that it’s been lost in the shuffle.

Is this not an issue for everyone else? Am I missing something? With the prior system we had ‘newSpriteMultiSet’ but it appears as if there’s nothing comparable to that for the new system. Please help!
