My First App!

Yes… Yes… This is just another Flappy Bird-like game…

But… It is my first game!!

Just on the Google Play Store for now.

This app does have more features than flappy bird though,

It has a full featured store and coins system!

–This app was first created as a test to see if I could make an app… And well, I think I did!!

–This took me quite a long time to build, as I had never programmed in Lua (or very much in any other language, so I am a complete noob at coding :stuck_out_tongue: :D )

–Also I am 15 and in my freshman year at high school, currently doing track as well… So not very much free time! (mostly why it took so long to develop!)

–Check out and download my app if you have the time!!! And tell me what you think of it!

Anyways, thanks for reading!

Congratulations!  You should give folks a quick run-down on the experience you had making the game.  I’m sure new folks would love to hear it.  i.e  How long did it take, what was the best part of the experience and what were the hard bits?

Good idea!

So here are some of my experiences, pointers, and tips!

-So this game took me about maybe 2 months to make. It would have taken a TON LESS time, but I just have like barely any free time. This 2 month period is also me learning how to code and how to make an app. Never had done it before, so even with like no free time, 2 months is still really short in my opinion!

-If anyone is thinking of making an app with Corona but haven’t decided if they actually want to, just do it!

-It won’t take long for you to have a fully functioning app or game up and running! Much faster than any other software I have tried.

-Lua (the programming language Corona uses) is very good in my opinion. Its solid, fast, easy and fun to use!

-Corona is probably one of the fastest ways to get an app up and running.

-If developing an app, first make a plan (what do you want it to do?), then try to make it. You will end up with a much better app.

-If you are like me and never programmed in Lua before, check out some YouTube videos on making apps with Corona SDK. There are a ton of really good tutorial videos that will show you how to make an app from start to finish.

-Also, if you ever get stuck with something, put up a post on the Corona Forums! Someone will get back to you very quickly with most likely, a solution to your problem. I did this and was amazed how much help I got! And it was fast too!!

In conclusion, Corona SDK is an AMAZING tool, it’s free (paid options as well) and has so many great features! So why not give it a try?
