My first Corona SDK app/port/sequel Ribbit Match it! Too

Hey everyone! My first-ever coded app has landed! Please be gentle as this is merely a game for 3-5 year olds

The game modes center around engaging the child’s shape recognition skills.

The menus and gameplay are such that a child will figure them out immediately.

Thanks Mike D.

Are you from the GS forums?

Regarding the game. I was just stoked to get this ported over from GS. I realized it was a bit more work than I hoped so I wanted to try and maximize my investment by just making it a separate release. Thus a lot of the content is similar but the performance and graphical improvements should be noticeable. After I get cranking on my first non-kid’s app, my more mainstream physics/puzzler I’m hoping to add that extra Alphabet mode that I wrote about in iTunes

Thanks for downloading!

Hi Josh

Well my son stole the ipad as soon as I installed it and got it straight away!

I come from a c / unix background but I was involved in a project called div games studio over 10 years ago, which was not unlike corona, but for dos.
i’ve been doing kind of a pachinko thing on corona, not really a game but my daughter enjoys making lots of bouncy balls on the screen!

Hope your app does well! I will rate it for you when i get the ipad back…

That’s awesome Mike. Thanks for the feedback! I look forward to doing more projects with Corona. This was also my first experience in doing something with/for the iPad.

You have a winner with my son, he just asked for it to be installed on his ipod touch!

Ha ha. Thanks Mike. I’m going to get started on my first non-kids game next week. Hopefully it goes over a little better.

May I ask what generation iPod he’s using? How did you find out about my first one? [import]uid: 10361 topic_id: 9834 reply_id: 37618[/import]

He has a 1st gen ipod touch. Needs headphones for sound.

Found out your first one from here, was playing it before we used a promo code on the 2nd one. [import]uid: 58449 topic_id: 9834 reply_id: 37619[/import]

Hey 3cordDesign
Game looks nice!

Do you mind posting the code for the tongue?
I actually have a similar game I made in GS but having a hard time porting this particular code over.

Thanks,
RD [import]uid: 7856 topic_id: 9834 reply_id: 37621[/import]

@Mike Oh cool. How does it run(performance-wise) on the the 1st gen? I wasn’t able to test it on the older device but I figured if it ran on 1st gen within the early GameSalad engine, then it should improve being coded in lua/corona.

@RD: Thanks man. Yeah I remember trying your game on GS. Different approach as I recall yours being a drag the tongue technique with different gameplay. The code wasn’t too difficult. Can’t post it right now because I’m on vacation, but I can help you out by telling you that I merely used transition.to to adjust the tongue size(may have been scale specifically). The size was determined with each click via the distance code that I found in the exchange area of this site. [import]uid: 10361 topic_id: 9834 reply_id: 37645[/import]

Hey 3cordDesign, no worries, I’m swamp at day job and working late, so rarely any time to work on any game code :frowning:
Whenever you get a chance, I’ll appreciate a follow up with the code either here or on a new post

I was thinking about relaunching my game as well and change the mechanic to match yours…a lot of people complaint about the tongue dragging.

Enjoy your vacation!

I tried to leave a review but it doesn’t let me :frowning:
My little girl does enjoy your game

Hey everyone! I decided to let this kids game go free today.
Ribbit Match 2 is steadily climbing the charts too! It’s currently 36 on the iPad Kids Free apps!

RD- Unfortunately Apple doesn’t allow people to post reviews after using a promo code. I think they changed that about the same time they changed the way the charts work.
