My Latest Game "jackpot Words" Released Worldwide On Itunes

It’s amazing how nerve wrecking it still is to take the plunge and release an app via Apple Appstore.  Worrying about the timing (day of the week, time of the day, etc. etc. etc.), when it may make no difference what-so-ever.  Who knows.

Anyhow, Jackpot Words is currently available for FREE.

I had the initial version of the app approved by Apple quite a while back, but instead of making it available to any of the Apple Appstores around the world, I held it back and added some more improvements.  You know, you can’t help but come up with things to change and improve, especially when you have trusted family and friends who would give me great feedback that just can’t be overlooked.

Well, finally, the game is out.  Let me know what you think!

Naomi

Love this game so far. I’ve never played word games before and have thoughly enjoyed it. The app works very smoothly, well done! Is timing in releasing an app important? I’ve never really thought of it before now. I submitted my first using Corona recently and just put the date I submitted it! Guess I should rethink that in future. Once again, well done. Now back to your game

Thank you so much, @hypergurl.  I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it.

About the timing, I don’t know.  I’ve read somewhere that Thursdays were good (something that was posted in 2010), and then it changed to some other day, like Tuesday, and then it probably changed to other day.  I’ve also heard people download games more over the weekend, so it’s good to time it so that users will find your app in newly released section on weekend.  I’ve also heard that the time of the day counts, because you don’t want to be buried under number of new apps released on the same day.  Etc., etc., etc…

But then, it feels like near impossible to time it right for the maximum exposure.  I certainly haven’t gotten it right.

Now my mission should be to find exposure in other ways beyond initial bang.

Yes being an app developer and being an entrepreneur are two completely different things. I’ve seen many bad app make lots of money and great apps that make very little. Now to learn to market ourselves  All the best Naomi.

Thank you, hypergurl.

Hi Naomi,

I liked it very much, it’s entertainment and refreshing!

I would off course suggest to add more languages, spanish is my native tongue.

Also, I don’t know if it possible to make words with duplicate letters like ‘letter’

Congrats to you! and I think this game is going to do very well.

P.S: I think I get it now, I cannot reuse letters! My bad!

Thank you so much, @ignacioric.  I hope so too (i.e., I hope it will do very well especially after all the work that went into it.)

About adding more languages, I would if/when my resources permit.  I’d need some advice from people whose native languages are these additional languages, because I’d need to understand what key letters must be in the mix to make sure there will be reasonable number of words to be created from a tile set.  (With English, vowels are must, for example, but then they must be just the right amount to be effective, etc.)

BTW, it looks like I didn’t totally botch the launch this time – I see Jackpot Words featured under New section of Games > Words category.  #1 in iPad, and #4 in iPhone.  (And also under Games > Puzzle although it’s all the way down to #11 spot.)  It makes me happy.  I hope this goodness will continue.  It certainly energizes me to continue working hard.

I downloaded the game Naomi, and it’s very fun! Also very challenging. I haven’t had time to really compete against my own best time/score, but will try that soon.

Great job!

Brent

Thank you so much, Brent.  Glad to hear it’s fun for you too!

I downloaded it this morning. Definitely fun!  I wish you great success.

Thank you, Jerry!

I’m seeing issues with my cloud service, and now I’m contemplating on removing the two-player game feature all together to avoid all the headaches I thought I wouldn’t have once I moved my database and web services to the cloud.  Who would’ve thought dealing with cloud service can be such a pain…
