my Win32 App refuses to run on my PC

Hello

i built my app as a Windows App, everything is OK.  when i try to run the resulting .exe file i get the error message that my app has stopped working and a list of temp files to look at appear in my info window about the problem.

in one of the files i get a message about a thread tried to read or write to an address which it does not have appropriate access. See below.

has any one had similar errors when trying to run a Windows built .exe file form of an App?

i saw messages about stopping anti-virus software, adding my exe file to a list of allowable programmes in windows Ctrl panel Windows Data Exception file.  but i am not sure this is the error i am having.  i did add my exe file to my anti-virus list of allowable programmes but to no avail.

i am using build 2017.3130 of corona, on a 64 bit pc running Win7 ultimate.

regards

bruce.

What Anti-virus software are you using?

Rob

i have Avira installed.

Can you get the latest public build (3135) and give that a try?

Rob

Rob

i got 3135 and tried again but the same result and error message.

Bruce

Can you disable your virus scanner, uninstall and re-install Corona and try running it and then building a desktop app and test running it. Then re-enable the virus scanner and see if it’s causing the issue?

Thanks

Rob

Rob

on this issue I found the reason for the app not running on Desktop and even on the Mac when I looked at this thread  https://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/62568-blured-images-in-win32-app/?p=324852

it seems I was trying to set the aspect ratio from display.pixelHeight/Width before Corona would allow.  Now my App runs on both Desktop and Mac builds by using the logic and placement of the code in the config.lua file at the end of above thread.

regards

Bruce.

Yea, setting an aspect ratio in config.lua is currently an issue for desktop builds. There is a filed bug report on it. However that said, it really doesn’t make sense for desktop apps. You can fun in full screen or windowed. Windowed takes settings from build.settings to control the window size, so you don’t have to try and make the content area fit since you’re in control of those settings.

Very useful information…
