@blomjens1,

Well, we went into this with no expectations and it was really horrifying when the status changed to “In review” at iTunes. Well, we nailed it and out it went. The first version launched in the appstore three weeks ago. It is a free version with IAP, maybe not so suitable for a child game / edu app. Parents are afraid of IAP since the smurf story. The sales figures for our IAP could maybe pay up for a good dinner and a beer for all of us three in the group  Not more or less what we expected - one thing we where proud of that it was represented in 8 places in iTunes. Number #1 here in Sweden in the category games / Education / New. That had a small impact on the sales and the curve went up

So we decided to upload a full version and it was released in the appstore for two days ago. First day we had the best day ever, we sold 9 units  And I just checked the statistics and now we are represented in 197 places in iTunes after three days? I have no clue how this happened but we are in the segment around #15 -> #30 in all the listed countries. I hope that this will bring a small boost to the sales so that we could bring on our girlfriend to the dinner, and buy them a beer

Anyone knows how the “featured in iTunes” system works? Is it a automatic system or is someone picking and adding games to those lists?

EDIT: I just did a reload on the page at appAnnie.com and we are now represented in 205 places in iTunes

That sound good whit the full app

About the “featured in iTunes” i have never seen a IAP app for children get featured
except in top/hot list

so its probably very good that you released the full version

I got a mail in february about they wanted to featured one of my apps
but i was on vacation and when i got back i lost my chance
i told my self that i would not read email on vacation (haha i learn my self a good lesson)
but yes it was selected manually
so i think its all manually selected (except for hot/new)

I alos think that the person that reviews you app gives some grade that effect where your app will start
some app will start in top 50 in alot of countries and some will just get lost in 500 + in one or to countries
One thing you can do to effect your rank (and your sales) is to ask your friend to review your app
this is very important
You live in sweden i guess you have 1000 of friends using iPhones / iPads

So are you working full time with apps or is this just a hobby ?

Oh no, what a mistake! Well, you learned a lesson there i guess.

Yepp, 2000 at least

No, I am doing this as a hobby just - we want to see what we can achive with some games. We dont expect anything, it is a ton of fun and maybe we can get somewhere, the future can tell
