Hey guys!
My name is Ovidiu, and I develop games in flash for about 7 years now, working for portals like miniclip.com, shockwave.com, freeonlinegames.com etc, and since AIR got released for mobile I switched to mobile development as I really got in love with the mobile devices and the fact that I was able to develop content for such a huge audience
Here are some examples of my past work:

I am also the creator of a tiny ios game experiment called Santa Vs. Frost available for iPad and iPhone:

On all these projects and many more I did all the graphics and AS programming by myself.
HOWEVER, despite my persevernce and desire to evolve it seems that I only managed to get myself frustrated over and over again on the very low performance on the AIR runtime side and when the AIR 3.2 got out with the stage3d update I was so eager to unleash my creative desires :))) but again the performance was so low on devices as iphone4!!!
I’ve spent countless hours trying to get the engine perform better but it seems that Adobe is simply not there yet! I got extremly frustrated be cause I’ve lost so much, much time and money trying to get it work that now I found myself turning back from my “beloved flash”
and seeking for some other options there.
This is how I got to findout about Corona SDK and when first visiting the site and seeng the tagline “Feeling burned by Flash?”, well I’ve yelled a big YES!! and clicked the header right away :))))
To make a long story short, I’ve been downloading the sdk and tested all the demos on the device (to avoid being burned again, hahahaha) and man, I was blowned away by the performance!
Just to make myself clear: in AIR I got maximum of 10 bodies in box2d, pinned with rotation joints and running at about 30fps on iphone4. If you kept adding bodies, the framerate drops with about 3-5fps on each body added!!! Well, how the hell we are suposed to unleash our creativity when phisics and particles are the heart and blood of any decent game on mobile these days?? And yes, I’ve tried everything on flash for the physics implementations: box2d, WCK, Nape everything! The best was Nape but still falling short!
Well, imagine my cardiac arrest when I opened the chains demo on corona directly on my device and counted more than 100bodies on those chaines moving at what seems more or at least 30fps!!! I was shocked :))))) and suddenly felt compeled to dive into the lua thing to be able to replicate that!
Man, I’ve felt so inspired that I felt the urge to post and to adress some very sincere “thank you!” to all the development team, to Carlos for his efforts and to Peach as I see him everywhere spreading knowledge and wining karma points!:))
Soooo A BIG THANK YOU from me and please keep up the awesome work!! Oh, and please endure my (very possible noob) questions that I am so sure will follow :)))
