Need assistance setting up Coronium on EC2

Heya folks,
I’ve been banging my head on the wall trying to get the EC2 setup using a Windows machine. Something I’m doing (probably with PuTTy) is failing and I can’t get Coronium setup properly.

I’d like some hands-on help, willing to pay for setup and basic tutorial on using Coronium. I feel rather confident I can get it going once its setup, just don’t have the time/patience right now to get the setup through. If you’re interested, ping me here or at Tyler [at] RetoraGames.com

Disclaimer- I realize letting someone log into my EC2 and set up my keys could be a security risk, therefore I will require a basic NDA and contract agreement to ensure the safety of the information provided.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the issues. Someone would most likely need access to your computer if it’s SSH configuration related.

Depending on what you are looking to accomplish, I would recommend not starting a project with Coronium right now. The project is going through a lot of transition.

The SSH hurdle is not specific to Amazon, this is a common requirement for server based transactions. Time may be better spent on that particular area. It will give you much more mobility.

If I may ask, what version of Windows are you running?

Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m on Win8 64bit.

I’ve heard murmurs of new backend things coming from Corona or Coronium in the near future, is there any official word on when I can expect something new?

Err…hmm…So having just started a new project using Coronium, what do you suggest? How long will it be before changes are made, I assume I can still basically use coronium in its current state setup on my server. How much different is it going to change by?

Chris

Hi,

The short answer is as long as you’re not running into any of the edge cases then you should be fine as-is. There is no update to Coronium coming, read more to understand the transition.

Coronium will be available in its current state. The future of the project is going to be mostly based on dev participation.

For some context, Coronium was developed and maintained by yours truly for the previous two years before joining Corona Labs. The Corona Cloud (which is based on some Coronium principles) is the actual project I’m working on right now. They are quite different in that Corona Cloud is more integrated into the Corona ecosystem. I’m not at liberty to comment on features or timeframes right now.

My goal at this point with Coronium is to organize the code better and create a more focused effort on finding contributors and managers for the project. I don’t have plans to take on some of the bigger architectural hurdles like Jobs, which is an underlying change that I have little control over.

Not sure if I should name names yet, but there is a dev in here who has been spending a lot of time with the code base and is currently implementing some different deployment strategies. A kind user also just submitted a great step-by-step guide on getting up and running. These types of contributions will help drive the future of the Coronium stack.
