New Amazon Game Development Platform

Good Morning,

Amazon revealed a new game development platform 2 days ago that supports LUA.

Do you folks foresee supporting this platform?

Here is the information:

Thanks,

Arthur

Hello,

That’s a whole new engine, I don’t think (even if it let’s you code in LUA) it’s related to Corona at all.

It’s like asking if Corona is going to support Unity at any time, they are the same thing, with their own differences of course.

Maybe the “experience” coding in LUA helps for this new engine. Maybe not… it all depends on the ammount and complexity of their API/framework, and how much you actually learnt coding in LUA while using Corona. If you just used their APIs then only the syntax will be familiar.

As nice as the engine looks, this is a thickly veiled attempt at rev-share via AWS services. The more popular your game is, the more service charges you’ll acquire across what appears to be a variety of their services related to gaming.

May be a nice option for some, but I’d read the fine print (Like Windows, PSOne, XBOX support only currently).

And though I’ve yet to find any docs to back it up, I’d be willing to guess that Lua will play a secondary role. It appears the focus is on C++ for the real meat of the engine.

The thing I like the most is the deep cloud integration, which is something we are adding to Corona Cloud as well.

Cheers.

Thanks for the illumination Develephant!
