New Apple ID?

I’m getting closer to having a working app, which means I will soon sign up for the Apple Developer Program. According to https://developer.apple.com/programs/start/standard/create.php it looks like I may want to create a new Apple ID.

I will then have the Apple ID I’ve been using as a customer for years and a second Apple ID to use as a developer.

I could use some advice.

  1. Is there an advantage to having a second Apple ID? It seems like there is.
  2. When I test my apps, I assume that will be under the developer ID. Will all my purchased apps be wiped out each time I login and test on my iPhone with the developer ID?

Basically, I’m wondering if there are pros and cons to consider in creating a new Apple ID, or is it pretty much the best way to go?

I use the same idea for everything. The only potential pro for two IDs would be if you were collaborating with multiple people and even then im not so sure since you can create users for iTunes Connect.

There are pros to using only one ID - switching is a pain when testing stuff and if you ever download an app on the wrong one then you get PitA issues when you wish to update that app in the future.
