New Awesome Game Company!

Hey Everyone!

I am starting up a mobile gaming company, Planet 8 Entertainment. We will create projects using the Corona SDK.

We are specializing in mobile gaming right now and should have a couple awesome games out in May for iPhone, iPad, Android Devices, Nook Color and Kindle Fire. Our projects are intended for gamers of all ages. Our projects include a strategic thinking game, a fast paced fantasy game, a competitive adrenaline game and even a interactive storybook for the kids. We intend for our games to bring friends and family together on the same device and online as well.

We hope to grow and open up many job opportunities for talented people all over the world.

To see what we are up to, here’s our company Twitter, Facebook and Youtube pages.
Follow, Like and Subscribe to stay updated when we start releasing games and media!

Hey thanks,

First we would be coming out with animations and videos to introduce people to our game on Youtube. Similar to those angry bird animations.

Then I would tweet the rest of the information about whats going on. [import]uid: 32524 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 89709[/import]

Followed! (Love the Twitter background, very solid.)

I love hearing about people creating companies that use Corona - I hope you’ll blog about it at some stage too. (Would enjoy reading that.)

Thanks Peach,

Yeah the Youtube background will look better once I get some videos on there to fill make the screen go down further. The background got cut off because theres nothing there.

I’ve never really blogged, used Twitter, or anything so I was having trouble trying to get people to know about the company, following on twitter and subscribing to youtube. I didnt really know where to start.

My original plan was just to make great games but I guess I need a following in order to make sure everyone knows about them. So I was trying to figure out how to get people to know about the games and follow me.

Do you have any tips on how to do that?

Thanks again Peach [import]uid: 32524 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 89822[/import]

I have some tips on a website/blog and getting people to notice you, yes.

If you’re using wordpress there are SEO plugins which can help and by having a site you update often with new content you will start appearing in Google for different searches.

It’s useful to tweet a lot too - I don’t do that as much as I should but I’m still up to around 1200 followers or so.

Another thing that helps is linking it all together - on Twitter link to your site, on your site link to your twiiter, youtube, FB, etc. Link it all up.

Oh okay, yeah I am getting a site made right now.

I just started actually looking at Twitter. So how does tweeting get you more followers. Isn’t it only followers can see what you post?

Thanks Peach [import]uid: 32524 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 89845[/import]

Good stuff

RE Twitter unless you have privacy stuff turned up then no, everyone can see your tweets.

Confusing at first, I know  [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 90074[/import]

Oh so whenever you tweet, does it pop up on a newest tweets list that everyone on twitter sees or something or how does that work? [import]uid: 32524 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 90106[/import]

People searching for certain things can see it and hashtags help with that.

Eg, people might be viewing all posts with the #CoronaSDK hashtag, so tweeting with that will get those people to see your tweet.

I believe there used to be a way to see newest tweets from all over, regardless of tags, but am unsure if that is still the case or not. (I don’t think it would provide a huge benefit either way as so many people tweet per second now.) [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 90144[/import]

hey, all the best from me, too  I stay tuned for your stuff.

I hopefully will start up this year, too with a further corona based company  Assumed that that time-killing college will find his end finally. grml. [import]uid: 53732 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 90779[/import]

What got me a lot of related followers was joining the Indie Developers Re-Tweet Group (IDRTG)

http://www.innovatty.com/twitter/IDRTG/

To join this group though, you will need 50 followers. I got 50 followers by joining Twiends. They give you a lot of followers fast, but many will unfollow you quickly.

After I got into the IDRTG I started to get a few new followers a day just from being in the group.

Another thing that I find gets you followers is if you follow others. Many will follow you back. Hope that helps. [import]uid: 31262 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 90781[/import]

Wow thanks aaaron, thats just what I needed!

I got into the IDRTG, now I just have to figure out how to get them to follow me. So how did you get everyone to know about you on this site?

If I tweet and do the #IDRTG thing, does that make it show up on the bottom so everyone can see it on the site? I dont understand the # thing on twitter because I just joined and never used Twitter before.

Thanks! [import]uid: 32524 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 90835[/import]

The # thing is just a way to “tag” tweets with stuff that can be searched on.

Sample tweet:

“I just created a level editor for my new RPG using Corona - now I can get cranking!”

As a game developer I might think that’s interesting, but I’d never see it. So you stick in a hash tag:

“I just created a level editor for my new RPG using Corona - now I can get cranking! #gamedev

People who have active searches going on the #gamedev tag will see that – if you look interesting enough, some of those people will then follow you.

For me, I’d go a step farther and use two hashtags in there:

“I just created a level editor for my new RPG using #CoronaSDK - now I can get cranking! #gamedev

Now people who are keeping an eye on game dev and Corona SDK stuff will see the message.

If you tweet about things Corona-related and use the #coronasdk hash tag, the people who do Corona development will probably find you.

Same thing for the #gamedev hash tag – as long as the tweet’s something game devs would find interesting.

Of course, if you’re looking for lots of followers so they will buy your games when they’re released, those people aren’t developers, they’re users (although a lot of devs buy games, of course). Getting a bunch of users to follow you is harder, but once you have some games out it’s a little easier, because people who liked your first game may want to follow you to find out about other games you have.

Oh ok, they barely allow me to write much but here’s what I just put up, is this how you do it?

We are a #Game design company that will use the #CoronaSDK to bring awesome games to the #iPhone #iPad #Kindle and #Nook. Coming Soon! [import]uid: 32524 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 90863[/import]

Yeah, that’ll work.

Maybe it will be different for you, but whenever I use iPhone, iPad, etc., as hashtags I always get spam messages back. Something to watch for.

Jay

PS - If you do get spam back, most Twitter clients have a button you can use to report and block the person. [import]uid: 9440 topic_id: 22461 reply_id: 90876[/import]

Goood luck! All the best from the very beginning!
