New business app is already in the top 40: UK Postage Calculator

“UK Postage Calculator” went on sale over a week ago but as I was away on a business trip, I haven’t been able to post it on this forum until today. It has already reached #40 in the UK paid business category for iPhone.

It uses some parts of the Widget API. I also created a “horizontal picker wheel” to allow a user-friendly way of seeing the weights & postage prices. The user can move the wheel by swiping left/right, or by tapping to the left or right of the centerline. Double-tapping will move the wheel all the way to the left or right.

@Danny, the prices are stored within the app, so that an internet connection is not required when you use the app. I will make an update to the app whenever the prices change.

Price changes are announced months beforehand and as they are invariably above-inflation increases, it’s always a major item on the news. The last change was announced in Dec 2010 and the prices changed in Apr 2011, so there’s plenty of time to update the app.
