New Game using RayCasting coming soon!

I’m currently developing a new puzzle game which uses RayCasting.  Should be finished in the next few weeks.  It is as yet untitled.

The beauty of raycasting is there is no collision detection at all, and the raycast picks up the coords of object hit as well as the angle of reflection off a surface.  Perfect fit for my new game.

Here’s a quick preview.  Please leave any questions or feedback.

Looks neat!

Cool concept but it would be more awesome if graphics was ramped up

Reminds me of the game Challenge of the Ancient Empire.
Used to play it a lot as a kid! :slight_smile:

@bfintal

I have got a more recent image from the game attached below.

What do you think it needs graphically to improve it bearing in mind that was an early image that you originally commented on?

I am going for the chillout theme in this puzzle game, with animated psychedelic backgrounds and some pretty cool chillout groove music.

Comments and feedback are more than welcome as I get very close to release date.

Definitely way better than the 1st one! Some suggestions to make it even better:

  • Make the dark gray blocks more apparent. From the screenshot, they’re essentially there to block your path right? Making it solid and more black may be better.

  • Add a bit more design to blocks that you rotate. I don’t have any suggestions on what would look good though.

Sorry, I’m a design guy and I think a better design with your game can make wonders for it since the gameplay is cool :slight_smile:

@bfintal

Many thanks for your constructive feedback, I really appreciate it.

I have darkened the dark blocks.  I want some light to show through as the background is animated.

I think they look better now from the attached image.

I am struggling with making the mirrors look better though.  Tried a few things but can’t get it to look right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Just to let everyone know that the game is complete.

It’s called Deflect.

Currently it’s live on Google Play and the Amazon App Store and still in review for the App Store, Nook an Samsung stores.

I will add it to the app showcase once it’s live on the App Store.

Give it a whirl.  Please post any feedback, as I really want to try and make this game as good as possible.  Thanks.

Oh and major thanks to the Corona staff for adding rayCasting and for fixing the bug where it wouldn’t return the closest item first.
