New guy needs help

Hey everyone! I have just recently started trying to use Corona. It seems like a great product. But I have lots of questions. I really dont know how/where to begin. I went through the new beginners start here stuff, and did my hello world. I also looked at the sample apps. I have quite a few ideas for different games. But am struggling/frustrating myself.

I downloaded a trial of Opacity Express to create some graphics. Is there something better/easier to use? I was able draw (not greatest quality) pics and have them load. I have no clue what to type for any type of interaction. Something as easy as press this color button, and fill this area with that color… almost like paint by number…

Any help with how/where to get started making games would be greatly appreciated!!! I know there are other topics and I have looked through those to get where I am so far.

There’s no real short cut to learning this stuff. Read the beginners guides and then download some samples and edit the code to try to understand what its doing.

Just take your code one item at a time. For example, you need a background so look up some sample code and see how the background is inserted. Then add a graphic… then move the graphic around… etc. Pretty soon you will have some messy code but you will be getting it. In the end you will probably want to re-write your code to make it “pretty” but by then you will have no trouble doing that. Good luck! [import]uid: 16901 topic_id: 7208 reply_id: 25351[/import]

How about the graphics program to use? Im not so sure I like Opacity, its not bad… but was thinking maybe trying out Adobe either Illustrator or have seen people mentioning Fireworks.
